Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is responsible for overseeing the ethical care and use of laboratory animals in research and teaching activities within the institution. The committee ensures that all animal-related procedures comply with relevant laws, regulations, and institutional policies.

The IACUC reviews and approves animal use protocols, monitors ongoing research activities, and promotes the principles of animal welfare and humane care. Through regular inspections and protocol reviews, the committee works to ensure that laboratory animals are treated responsibly and that research is conducted in accordance with internationally recognized standards.

The committee is composed of members from diverse backgrounds, including scientists, veterinarians, and non-affiliated (external) members, to provide balanced perspectives in the ethical evaluation of animal use. The IACUC also supports education and training programs related to laboratory animal care and use to enhance awareness of animal welfare and research ethics.
